Yes! Kiryo Beach is about a 5-minute drive from the villa. It's an unspoiled sandy beach loved by locals — no shops, just sand and sea. Depending on the time of day, it feels like your own private beach. Showers are available at the beach and back at the villa.

Yes, you can enjoy a BBQ in the courtyard. Three charcoal grills are provided free of charge and no advance reservation is required. The grills, grates, tongs and charcoal extinguisher are kept in the storage shed, so you can bring one out to the courtyard whenever suits you and the weather. Fresh local ingredients can be purchased at the nearby Mikuriya Port fish market or local supermarket. Please bring your own charcoal, fire starters, food, seasonings, paper plates and cups. After your BBQ, please wash the grate and put it back, just as you would the cookware and tableware. Dish soap and a scrubbing brush are provided at the courtyard tap. Leaving the grate over the fire for a few extra minutes before putting it out chars the residue and lifts it, so it comes away easily with just water.

How do I access the Daisen ski resort?

From DAISEN UMIHOTARU to Daisen White Resort ski area takes about 20-25 minutes by car. Take the Sanin Expressway from Nawa IC, exit at Daisen-guchi IC, then follow Prefectural Road 158 toward Daisenji. In winter, snow tires or chains are required.

About Daisen Soba

A Local Specialty: What Is Daisen Soba?

The roots of Daisen Soba reach back roughly 800 years, to the Kamakura period. Kikō Shōnin, a revered monk of Daisen Temple, is said to have performed a sacred rite before the Emperor while still wearing his straw cape and hat, healing the Emperor's illness. This episode was passed down as "the Secret Rite of the Straw Cape."

The monk also distributed amulets to protect cattle and horses, and made use of Mt. Daisen's vast foothills to encourage livestock grazing and buckwheat cultivation. These efforts became the origin of what would later be celebrated as the "Daisen Cattle and Horse Market," counted among Japan's three great livestock markets.

Since then, the tradition of soba-making has lived on at the foot of Mt. Daisen, with a distinctive milling technique that incorporates even the inner husk of the buckwheat. The deep, dark color and a rustic, robust flavor — this is "Daisen Soba," now arriving fresh at the table of your villa.

※In winter (Dec-Mar), there is a risk of snow and freezing, so please be sure to install snow tires or carry tire chains.

We do not offer direct rentals at the accommodation, but there are several rental shops around the ski resort parking area (Daisenji area).

Some shops carry the latest models, so you can come empty-handed and rent a full set of wear and gear.
